Water Recall explores the complex relationship between urban areas and aquatic ecosystems, with a focus on the Kiel Fjord. The project sheds light on the hidden habitats beneath the water’s surface and their inhabitants, as well as the impact of humans on aquatic environments. It reveals the connections between the deep sea, the ecological crisis and humanity’s relationship with water and marine life.
The title of the exhibition resonates in two directions: it awakens what is in danger of fading from our collective memory, while at the same time urging the urgent recall of a resource whose disappearance affects humans and all other living beings alike. Water Recall opens a space of remembrance: of water as the origin of all life, as a bearer of stories, and as a fragile, endangered force.
